My Activties

1. National level swimming:

Swimming has been a remarkable journey, starting from my early days in inter-school competitions to the adrenaline-pumping atmosphere of national events. Each stage brought new challenges, friendships, and invaluable lessons that shaped my love for the sport.

I vividly remember my first inter-school meet, where the excitement was palpable. Standing on the pool deck, I was surrounded by my teammates, all buzzing with nerves and anticipation. It was here that I learned the essence of teamwork and support. Cheering each other on, sharing tips, and celebrating every small victory created a bond that went beyond just competing. It felt like we were part of something bigger, each race a shared experience.

As I progressed to state competitions, the stakes became higher. The level of competition intensified, and I was up against some truly talented swimmers. It was thrilling to race against athletes I had only seen in magazines or on TV. The energy at these meets was electric, with everyone focused and ready to give their best. I learned the importance of resilience during this phase. Sometimes, despite all the hard work, I wouldn’t get the results I wanted. But each setback taught me to bounce back, to keep pushing, and to believe in my training.

When I finally made it to the national level, it felt like a dream come true. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation, and I could feel my heart racing as I stepped onto the starting block. Competing at this level was both exhilarating and nerve-wracking. It was a true test of my skills, mental strength, and determination. In those moments, I realized that swimming wasn’t just about speed; it was about staying calm under pressure and trusting myself.

Breaking records, especially in the 50-meter breaststroke, was a surreal experience. Each time I achieved a new personal best or set a new state record, it was a reminder of how far I had come. Those moments were not just about the numbers; they symbolized the countless hours of practice, the early mornings, and the sacrifices made along the way. They taught me that dedication and hard work do pay off, and that every little effort counts.

Throughout this journey, swimming has taught me so much about myself—how to embrace challenges, how to work as part of a team, and the importance of resilience. Each competition, each race, has been a stepping stone, not just in my swimming career, but in my personal growth. The friendships I forged and the lessons I learned will stay with me long after I leave the pool.

As I continue to evolve, I carry these experiences with me, grateful for the journey that swimming has provided. It's not just about racing; it’s about the memories made, the obstacles overcome, and the passion that drives me forward.

2. ECURE, An Environmental Enthusiast:

My Experience with E-CURE: Leading the Charge for Environmental Sustainability
Being part of E-CURE, a dynamic environmental organization based in Bengaluru, was an incredible experience that aligned perfectly with my passion for sustainability. As the team lead for our internship project, I had the privilege of spearheading initiatives focused on environmental sustainability, particularly addressing the pressing issues of microplastics and carbon footprints.
One of my primary responsibilities was to guide my fellow interns through in-depth research on these topics, helping us gain a thorough understanding of their environmental impacts. Our research fueled our outreach efforts, where we aimed to create real, lasting change in the community.

A key part of our project involved working closely with local government schools to raise awareness among young students. I coordinated educational workshops and interactive activities, designed to empower these students to become environmental stewards. We focused on making complex topics like plastic pollution and carbon footprints accessible and actionable, encouraging them to take steps toward protecting the environment in their everyday lives.
Through hands-on activities like tree planting, recycling workshops, and discussions on sustainable practices, we inspired these students to embrace environmental responsibility. It was fulfilling to witness their enthusiasm and the shift in mindset that our efforts sparked.
Collaborating with a dedicated team, both within E-CURE and with school communities, allowed me to contribute to the organization's mission of creating a greener, more sustainable Bengaluru. The experience deepened my commitment to environmental advocacy and inspired me to continue making a tangible difference in the world around me.

3. Banjara:

My Experience at Banjara Gurukul School: Nurturing Education for All

As a student intern at Banjara Gurukul School, I had the privilege of engaging with a diverse group of students, each with unique academic and personal needs. The school's commitment to bridging educational gaps and supporting children from underserved communities, as well as those with special needs, offered me the perfect environment to develop my teaching skills and gain valuable experience in inclusive education.

During my internship, I worked closely with individual students, providing personalized support to enhance their academic understanding. My role involved adapting lessons to cater to different learning abilities, which was particularly important when working with children who required additional guidance. I designed interactive exercises and activities tailored to the strengths and challenges of each student, helping them build confidence and overcome academic obstacles.

Working with children with special needs was a particularly enriching part of my experience. I learned to approach each student with patience, empathy, and creativity, ensuring they received the individualized attention they deserved. By fostering a nurturing environment and offering continuous encouragement, I witnessed these students thrive academically, reaching milestones that were incredibly rewarding for both them and me.

This internship deepened my understanding of the potential within every child and reinforced my passion for education. It taught me the importance of inclusivity, patience, and the power of personalized attention in helping students succeed.

4. Aqualiners volunteer:

Volunteering at Aqualiners wasn’t just another experience—it was a life-changing turning point. Stepping into the pool with children who faced unique challenges, including ADD, ADHD, and autism, I quickly realized that swimming wasn’t just about strokes and speed. It was about unlocking potential, building self-confidence, and providing these children with a therapeutic space where they could grow both physically and emotionally. Aqualiners, led by the inspiring Kavitha Chitiappa, offers more than just swim lessons—it provides a tailored, compassionate approach that caters to each child’s needs, giving them the attention and care they deserve.

My role as a volunteer gave me the chance to directly work with these children, engaging in one-on-one swim sessions designed to enhance motor skills, boost self-esteem, and bring a sense of joy to each child's life. Watching them face their challenges with determination and seeing their smiles after mastering a new skill was deeply fulfilling. I didn’t just teach them how to swim; I became part of their journey, witnessing firsthand how the water could be a powerful tool for both physical and emotional growth.

This experience was eye-opening in ways I hadn’t anticipated. It showed me the true impact that personalized care and attention can have, especially when working with children who need a little extra support. It sparked a profound change in me—I began to see how I could use my passion for swimming to make a tangible difference in the lives of others.

Aqualiners became the foundation for my decision to pursue a career in child psychiatry and neuropsychology. It was here that I understood the connection between mental health and physical activity, and how critical individualized support is for those facing cognitive and developmental challenges. This journey solidified my commitment to helping children not only in the pool but in every aspect of their well-being. Aqualiners wasn’t just a volunteer experience—it was the moment I found my true calling.
